Who inspires us

They say mimicry is the highest form of flattery. I will be quick to admit that much of the below we have copied in some sense or another. What we haven’t copied is our ideals though. From my working-class background I’ve always felt very strongly about the ethics of how to run a business and what it means as a leader.

I am constantly inspired by those around us and I love seeing brilliant individuals achieve their full potential.

Companies

  • Posthog - Seriously, these guys are amazing. We use them for our own internal tooling. But the way they run thier business and their culture inspires me constantly.
  • Valve - They were the ones I first learned about a ‘company handbook’ from. As a private company they have always put their customers and craft first over faceless shareholders. Love that.
  • Atlassian - Inbound only sales, very developer focused, and also rep from Australia (which is awesome).
  • Kinso - More Australian rep (hi guys), viral and interesting marketing, and an emphasis on story-telling as the future of business marketing which is great I think.
  • Shopify - Buy us. (jk… or…). No but seriously, a disruptor in their space and a great example of how to make complex business software slightly more enjoyable to use.

Books

  • The Design of Everyday Things by Donald Norman.
  • Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman.
  • When Things Fall Apart: Heart Advice for Difficult Times by Pema Chödrön.

None of these books are really relevant directly to Lucrii, or startups, but they are great books to read. They are also totally opposite ends of the spectrum.
