## What it does

A work board is a kanban board with columns you define. Create Board opens a short form.

| Field | What it takes |
| --- | --- |
| Title | The board's name |
| Description | Optional. The board's purpose |
| Team | Org-wide board, or the team the board belongs to |

The team decides who can change the board later. A team leader and above can change any board, and a team's manager can change that team's boards. An org-wide board belongs to no team, so only a team leader and above can change it. [Editing and deleting a work board](/docs/boards/settings.md) has the rest.

A team-owned board can be the team's default. Lucrii places new tasks owned by that team on it.

A board starts with four mapped columns. New sets a task to Assigned, In Progress to In Progress, On Hold to On Hold and Done to Completed. A card dropped on Done is completed. [Columns and cards](/docs/boards/columns.md) covers renaming, reordering and removing columns.

## Before you start

Create Board appears for a team leader and above, and for anyone who manages at least one team.

If you manage a team but do not hold the team-leader role, you must choose a team. Lucrii does not offer you Org-wide board.

A board's Title can be up to 255 characters, and its Description up to 10,000.

## How to use it

1. Open Work Boards and select Create Board.
2. Give the board a Title.
3. Write a Description if the board's purpose needs explaining.
4. Choose Org-wide board, or pick the team that owns it.
5. Tick the default-board box if new tasks for that team belong here.
6. Select Create.

The default-board box shows only once you choose a team. Clearing the team clears the tick.

If you leave the page with unsaved changes, Lucrii asks you to confirm first.

## Troubleshooting

The page says "The list of teams could not be loaded." under the Team picker. Lucrii cannot read your organisation's teams right now. Try again shortly.
